Ricardo Sanchez, born in Araguari, Minas Gerais, lives and works in São Bernardo do Campo and has a degree in Advertisement.

Having one photographer uncle and another that was a visual artist, he grew up admiring paintings, drawings, books about art, huge colored pencil boxes, and photographic equipment.

Growing up in the 80’s, most of the counter-culture scene of the time was part of his daily life, especially rock and skating. In the 90s, he expressed his art through discos, which he worked with for 10 more years.

His photography arose during this period, to register the parties he played in, using what he learned in the college’s photography classes. It became his new passion, leading him to various courses, exhibits, and festivals to deepen his knowledge on the theme.

In 2012, he won his first award in a Nikon promoted contest. In 2016, through Oma’s visual arts laboratory, his artistic research in alternative media began, this became the main characteristic of his current production.

Using mainly heavy, rustic, and brute media, made from metal, concrete, stones, and even tools, he aims to create a dialogue between the media and the images transferred upon them, transforming the media into protagonists. This series made the photograph go from a media of infinite possibilities of reproduction to a unique piece, impossible to replicate.
