FLAVIA FABBRIZIANI

20231017_153606_edited.jpg

Flavia Fabbriziani, born in São Paulo, has been living in Rio de Janeiro for over 10 years. With a degree in Business Administration, she is a postgraduate in Digital Business, with an MBA in museum management at the ‘Associação Brasileira de Gestão Cultural’. She has also worked in project management, in editorial, and educational areas at the ‘Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro’.

Coming from a family that valued artistic manifestations, her uncle being a painter and sculptor and her mother a pianist, Flavia’s first artistic contact was through dancing.

She worked at the ‘Núcleo de Memoria da Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro’, under the coordination of Margarida Souza Neves, while having Contemporary Art classes with Professor Ronaldo Brito. Besides that, she also did an artistic residency in Rome and with the group ‘Encontro e Reflexões’ – Lage Park – under the coordination of the artist Lole de Freitas.

In the group ‘UaiArt’, she created the project ‘Mulheres Iluminadas – Laura Laurinda Gabriella’. Starting from bibliographic research, this memory themed project transformed the stories of avant-garde women into installations and audio artworks. Since then, she has expanded her practice to these fields.

When making her pieces, Flavia uses wide panels to support her canvasses, since she needs a surface that sustains the impact of her painting gestures, that comes from her back, arms, fists and hands. Her work carries powerful brushstrokes and broad and concise palette knife strokes, rendering a blend of colors, shapes and luminous tones.

The city, the nature around it, memories, and life experiences inspire her to build, and unravel, the layers in her work through a cadenced gestural.
